| 2001 | Canadian Icewine
is being effectively marketed as a drink of privilege, but you don't have
to use summer as a verb or have four middle names to appreciate its cheerful
appeal. Case in point, this spicy and exotic sweetie from Niagara's Lailey
Vineyard. Toffee, caramel and classic Gewurztraminer rose/lychee character
charm the senses. Rich and concentrated yet not cloying thanks to its
vibrant structure; this is an opulent wine to savour with pleasant company.
It has the potential for midterm cellaring, but there's no need to postpone
gratification. Chris Waters, Vines. June 2003 |
